Stress is a part of life but too much is not healthy for us and places enormous pressure on our body. Sometimes the thoughts we think place unrealistic pressure on us to do too much all the time. We are not meant to stay in overdrive and this can actually lower our immune system.
Experiencing joyful feelings are essential to our wellbeing. Positive emotions create powerful health improving chemicals that make us less prone to illness. Take time to relax by making calming thoughts and actions a part of your life. Living by example shows kids self‐care at an early age, a skill that will serve them well for the rest of their lives!
Research shows the best way to teach kids is through how they observe you handle your life. When you give so much to your kids, sometimes it’s easy to neglect your own need for fun, fulfilment and relaxation. Making time for your happiness, is being loving towards yourself and will bring out the best in you as a parent. When we are fulfilled we can give more fully of ourselves to those we love most.
Some great ideas are;
- Go on a picnic.
- Have an outing to the park to play with your kids.
- Watch a ‘feel good’ movie.
- Set clear limits on technology.
- Do something you love like painting, dancing or my personal favourite a bubble bath!
