“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” – Aesop.
Isn’t it amazing how a simple act of kindness can instantly uplift us and brighten up our day? When we experience kindness it has a profound impact on how we feel. Studies show that when an act of kindness occurs everyone, even someone watching, experiences positive emotions. Kindness even makes us happier, which enhances our wellbeing and feelings of success.
I challenge you to involve your school, your kids and even yourself in at least 5 Random Acts of Kindness in the month ahead. Play your part in creating the kind world you want to see. To get you started here are some of my favourite ideas;
- Write it out – Handwrite a heartfelt note to a friend or family member
- Dare to share – Compliment someone next time you notice something nice about them
- The element of surprise- Fresh pick flowers from the garden for a loved one
- Be kind to yourself – Good feelings = More energy! When we direct kindness inward at ourselves this is linked to better psychological health and decreased anxiety. Be mindful and swap being self-critical with positive self-talk.
When we are giving of ourselves and appreciate what we have, we start noticing even more things to be grateful for in our lives. So take the plunge and have a creative month ahead carrying out your Random Acts of Kindness :).
